October 2008
Fall is a Comforting Season…. We don’t know about all of you, but it finally feels like we have settled into a groove with school and sports schedules, homework and everything else that comes along during a week. As we head into the fall season, the PTA will be changing the routine that some of us have gotten used to here at Paddock. We are hosting a new and different type of fundraiser on October 3rd, and by doing so we are hoping to avoid catalog sales. We are using a new online PTA registration system, in turn trying to eliminate the excess use of paper by changing the way we communicate our information. We are also trying to host some new events during the year and we will mix those in with the traditional favorites we have all enjoyed. With all of this change there does come some discomfort. We understand that change can be uncomfortable for most of us, and that with change there will be some trial and error. We do not promise that all of these new things will be the perfect fit or the perfect idea. All we ask is that, as PTA members, you support the PTA as we try them. Who knows, maybe they will prove to be just that, something we tried. But the potential is there and they may even become one of the student’s favorite events or one of our biggest money making fundraisers. However, we would never have known the outcome, unless we tried. As we continue to try out these new ideas, please bear with us. Let us know how you feel about an event or a new fundraiser. We want you to feel comfortable sharing your thoughts. Look for the new PTA Suggestion box, which will be located in the school lobby. Please submit your ideas, suggestions and concerns. We want to know what you, the members, think and any suggestions you have on how we could make our PTA programs better for the children. When all is said and done, the children are the reason we do what we do. None of us volunteer because we have nothing else to do, we do it for the kids and that is a comfort to us all. Have a safe and Comforting October! Jen DeFranco and Darcy Killigrew
